Vic’s On the River is fine-dining restaurant in a 19th-century warehouse features classic Southern cooking in Savannah. The restaurant has many rooms and the charm of the old homes in the area. When you first enter a bar area greets you. Once inside you are escorted into the many rooms serving patrons.
Entry into this establishment can be on either River Street or on East Bay Street. Because we arrived on the lower level (River Street) we were directed several doors down to what appeared to be a coffee shop. The entrance to this restaurant from the lower level requires an elevator ride at the back of this shop.
If you are arriving from East Bay Street, you enter right into the bar area.
We were served by an extremely friendly waitress who allowed us to mix and match sides. We appreciated the available choices and dined on:
- BBQ Meatloa
- Fried Chicken
- Macaroni & Cheese
- Parmesan Risotto
The food reminded me of home cooking vs. the gourmet cuisine we were used to. The meatloaf was a bit dry and the macaroni & cheese was rather tasteless. Even with the friendly service, I would recommend trying another establishment.
